Scorecard History 101

TPC River Highlands

Cromwell, Connecticut

The evolution of the TPC River Highlands began beck in 1928 when the Middletown Golf Club was formed.  The club existed for six years at which time it became the Edgewood Golf Club.  The club at that time was owned by the Pierson family owners of large local nursery.  Peter Pierson an avid golfer would eventually become the owner.  Pete was well known for just showing up to play golf and requiring anyone on the first tee to step aside so he could play immediately.  Eventually in the 1980's the course was sold to the PGA tour who was looking for a bigger site for the Insurance City Open which at the time was being held at the Wethersfield Country Club.

So here begins the scorecard history of the TPC River Highlands starting with Edgewood GC scorecards.  All of the scorecards shown are from my collection.  You view a larger version of these scorecards by clicking on the image.

Editors Note:  The above scorecard is also unique in that the printer made a major error.  The printer inadvertently printed the back of the scorecard as for the TPC River's Bend in Cincinnati, Ohio.  All were destroyed by TPC employees except for thirteen that were taken by a former employee and given to me.  One remains in my collection and the remaining twelve were sent on to other major scorecard collectors.  The back of this scorecard is shown below.
