The Panama Canal

Cruising the Panama Canal

Cruising the Panama Canal takes nearly a full day.  The ship I was on approached the Gatun Locks at daybreak and arrived at the other end in Panama City in late afternoon.  While traversing the canal you'll see hundreds of ships, boats bridges, trains,  jungles, varying landscapes and thousands of photo opportunities.  Below are a few of the sights and scenes we encountered and below them is an Internet link to view an eleven minute clip of our trip.

The Panama Canal – Set 1

The Panama Canal – Set 1
Truly superb was a cruise through the Panama canal.  Our ship (the Regal Princess) started approaching thye first of the locks we would pass through just before daybreak.  Needless to say the majority of the ships 3,500 passengers were up very early to gain a good vantage point to see the locks and associated activities that guided up through Gatun Locks, the first of several we would pass through that day.
