Burnt Island & Boothbay Harbor

Burnt Island is a beautiful five-acre island owned by the Maine Department of Marine Resources. It is near the mainland and approximately one mile from the port of Boothbay Harbor. The historic buildings at this lighthouse station have been carefully restored and transformed into an exceptionally fine educational facility. During the summer programs are offered in navigation and maritime history, natural history, art, literature and more. Boat trips transport passengers to the island.

Boothbay Harbor - Another Day

Boothbay Harbor - Another Day

While in Boothbay Harbor we decided to take a boat ride out to see the 'Puffins'. Unfortunately we were about one week to late as 99% of the puffins had headed back out to sea. Thus I was not able to get any good photographs of them. In spite of that it was still a beautiful boat ride on a beautiful day.

Boothbay Harbor in Maine is a must take vacation spot for a couple of days. It is exquisitely scenic and would likely take a few days in order to explore all of its wonders.
